Mari Takahashi (born: November 2, 1984 (1984-11-02) [age 39]), better known online as AtomicMari, is a Japanese-American YouTuber, dancer, and host. She is a co-founder and was one of the hosts of the YouTube channel Smosh Games, and was the host of the long-time series Smosh Pit Weekly on Smosh Pit.

Career[]

Smosh (2011-2020)[]

Mari was the host of the original Smosh Pit Weekly, a weekly show that focused on the various images, videos, and articles found in the Smosh Pit on the Smosh website. She rarely appears on videos uploaded on the main Smosh channel but is the third most associated member of Smosh, only behind Ian and Anthony. August 22, 2015, was the last Smosh Pit, after running for 4 years and 4 months and having 227 episodes. A revamped Smosh Pit Weekly series with her was created nearly two years later. As well, she was a veteran member of Smosh Games, appearing as part of Smosh Game Bang as well as on her own show, Maricraft (formerly called Super Mari Fun Time). Mari was forced out of Smosh in February 2020 in favor of New Element Six, which featured many of the former Smosh Games cast members.

Post-Smosh (2020-present)[]

In 2020, Mari became a correspondent for Polygon's Speedrun on the short-lived Quibi streaming service, where she played games and interviewed A-list talent. On September 23, 2021, she became a co-owner of Spacestation Gaming.[1] She continues to upload gaming and other videos to her personal YouTube channel, many of which featured her fellow former Smosh Games cast members.

Personal life[]

Mari's main profession is a ballet dancer, as explained in one of her Smosh Pit Weekly episodes. This explains her flexibility in her audition. She sometimes goes on tour with her group, as seen in two Smosh Pit Weekly episodes where she filmed in her hotel room. According to her own YouTube channel, Mari has uploaded excerpts of four of her performances. Her videos include her performances for Giselle, No Place to Rest, Musume, and the Nutcracker Suite. Mari also enjoys rock climbing. According to some pictures, she has been known to climb some slopes without a harness. She also loves traveling, as seen in some of her pictures. According to a Smosh Pit Weekly episode, she always takes her traveling buddy, a monkey doll she calls Silvio, along. She also takes home souvenirs that are made of dead animals, a monkey skull being an example.

Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X[]

Mari appeared on the 33rd of the hit tv show Survivor, with Mari being on the tribe consisting of younger people, due to the theme of the season being Millenials vs Gen X. She initially started the game getting in a power position by noting to everyone the clear alliance of Taylor StockerFiggy FigueroaJay Starrett, and Michelle Schubert. However, she was blindsided on episode 2 when she was voted out by a 7-3 vote for being a strategic threat placing 19th. Mari is considered to be one of the most popular early boots, as many fans wished to see her go farther.[2]
