Daliso Chaponda (born 1980, 37 during Britain's Got Talent 2017) is a comedian who auditioned for Britain's Got Talent 2017, making it through to the final as Amanda Holden's golden buzzer act and finishing third in the final.


Daliso was born in Malawi but lives in Manchester. He has mentioned that he had an ex, which he often jokes about in his comedy.

Comedy style

Daliso's comedy stood out for the judges as being non-PC, and he mentions himself that he often crosses the line about things and that he tries to get bad things and make it into something people laugh about. He made jokes about his home country, Malawi and also about his ex in all his Britain's Got Talent performances.

Britain's Got Talent


Daliso was featured in episode 3 of the auditions, aired on the 29th of April 2017, where Amanda Holden pressed the golden buzzer for him, automatically sending him to the semi-final.


Daliso was performed live in the last semi-final, aired on June 2nd, as the 4th act. He finished first in his semi-final, gaining 41.1% of the public votes and finishing in front of fellow finalists Missing People Choir and Jamie Lee Harrison.


The final was aired live on the 3rd of June, one day after Daliso's semi-final. He was the 9th to perform. He finished 3rd behind young magician Issy Simpson and pianist Tokio Myers, who won the contest, gaining 14.7% of the votes.
