TranscriptEdit

{A line is drawn in the shape of hills with the words; "POWER SONGS, EXPERT COACHING, ORIGINAL MUSIC" and the logo for Nike: Sport Music, written on the tops of the lines. The cover artwork for Are You In?: Nike+ Original Run zoomes in with the track "Forever" from the album playing in the background. The album cover spins towards the viewer and fades out of sight as the words, "How did the Nike + Original Run by De La Soul originate?" appearing with a grey background.}

  • KELVIN MERCER (POSDNUOS): It really started from meeting people in the S.B. department, to then working our way up to doing the dunk, finally months later getting a call that we could possibly be a part of the Nike Original Run, which I think they did about four or five of them already. Just us being a part of the list, you know like, "Wow that's cool," but actually to be picked off the list and now actually do it. You know, it was cool.

{The words, "What was it like to make the album?" appears with another song playing}

  • VINCENT MASON (MASEO): {Various producing equipment is shown while Vincent talks} Yeah, we didn't compromise being De La Soul. You know, {goes back to regular interview} and nor does it compromise as Nike I...uh either, you know its actually what we look to do which was to be innovative, get your body moving, get motivated to start your day, or start your workout.
  • KELVIN MERCER (POSDNUOS): Constant, constant um.. dialogue with Nike. They were able to hear things, so you know they were uh..of coarse, allowing runners that they would get to run to t' uh..motivate themselfs to it and come back to us and know.

{The words "What was the goal of the project?" appear onscreen with the song "Forever" playing again.}

  • DAVID JOLICOER (DAVE): {While David speaks videos of the De La Soul trio walking down a sidewalk play} We make people move we make people dance {Vincent interrupts}, you know, that's what we're here for. {switches back to regular interview} And they wanted to hear De La music, you know, there were sometimes where we were doing songs and we might have said something about Nike or something about training, then they were like, "No, no, that's not what we want, just you guys be creative and create music." Just be you, be De La, record the records that you record and, and, and apply it to this whole concept.
  • VINCENT MASON (MASEO): {Interrupting and coughing}

{The text "What were the challenges during the making of the album?" appears with the song "Big Mouf" playing in the background.}

  • DAVID JOLICOER (DAVE): I mean the challenge, the challenge was trying in the beginning, 'caus I think we were approaching this whole project like we were attempting to make, you know, aerobics music. We've never done anything like this before and I think its been a challenge.
  • KELVIN MERCER (POSDNUOS): Just making great music and trying to make quality music. I think we do that easily, but throw a challenge in it, like "you have to stick to fourty-five minutes" you, "you have to make sure you have a song that peaks up and cools down." Or you know like, that was a challenge and that was a great thing to try.

{The words "Why is the project important to De La Soul?" appears with another song playing}

  • VINCENT MASON (MASEO): I think the project is really important because it puts us in a whole new light, a whole new uh..uh..audiance doing something as innovative as this, its uh perfect for De La Soul. You know.

{The logo for Nike + Sports Music appears as the video ends}
