Ian Anderson, better known online as Druaga1 is an American YouTuber who uploads tech videos.

Originally creating the name out of inspiration from the series "Tower of Druaga", Ian Anderson created the channel on July 18, 2006, posting his first video on the same day, "Sauerbraten Test".

Overview[]

Ian Anderson, going under the persona Druaga1, makes tech related videos, often revolving around old/retro personal computers and Macs.

Druaga2 (Shelby, Tech Tangents, formerly AkBKukU) is someone who also features in Ian's videos, in the SE/30 Floppy drive replacement, SuperDisc Setup Race as well as Running a Doom Server on a Windows NT4 (Part 2). They also host LAN parties, which they also make videos about.

Terminology[]

The Ultimate DOS Machine/Packard Bell Legend 100CD[]

Originally appearing in Ian's Computer Show Episode 1, and later in Episode 4, The Ultimate DOS Machine (originally called the IPC002X or "Ian Personal Computer 002 eXperimental") was created from the remains of a Packard Bell Legend 100CD, which was Ian's First computer. On the 8th of July 2007, Ian would upload the now famous video titled "The Ultimate DOS Machine", a brief overview of the capabilities of the computer.

- In 2013 he would upload revisit of the machine, "The Ultimate DOS Machine Revisited", which highlighted in better video quality the computer and the issues that it was beginning to develop.

- In 2015, after the hard drive failed/began to show signs of failure, Ian would proceed to "Redemptsurrect" (Redemption/Resurrect) the machine with a different case and motherboard, as well as using an SD card as the boot media.

- In 2016 a series of videos revolving around installing Windows 2 were released, the motherboard, processor and memory combination was chosen by chance to run the operating system.

- In 2018 Ian would begin the process of rebuilding The Ultimate DOS Machine, starting off using the reusing the original motherboard, plus other components from the "Redemptsurrected" Ultimate DOS Machine, the process was successful, however was later decided to move to a different platform, the Arkenstone DECTalk computer, this however required a large number of changes, not to mention the numerous issues it already had, Ian would move over to a different combination in "The DOS Machine Motherboard to Rule Them All?".

- In 2021 Ian would come full circle, attempting to rebuild the Original Packard Bell, this project however was fraught with problems and took around a year to succeed in his original objective. "The Year-Long Packard Bell Factory Restore"

420/Weed[]

Stoner humor is common in most Druaga1 videos, with references to the consumption of cannabis, "weed" is often set as the default password for new software installs, and comments about the number 420 "showing up everywhere" are commonly made.

His video introduction is often "Hey smokers, it's Druaga1 here!"

SSDs[]

Installing SSDs or other flash storage (including SD and Compact Flash cards) into old machines and trying to get them to run old software is a common theme in many of Ian's videos, it often poses a challenge to get the hardware combination to work and has become an in-joke within his community and other parts of the vintage computing community.

The Quantum Bigfoot[]

The Quantum Bigfoot is a 5.25" Hard Disk Drive from the mid-late 1990s, specifically the model is Quantum Bigfoot TX 8GB, as shown in the video Installing Windows ME on a Quantum Bigfoot TX, this has also been a recurring joke amid his fanbase, later being referenced by Ian in other videos, Including "Quantum Bigfoot Returns: VMs on ME".

Taquitos[]

A two part mini-series titled "Taquitos.mov" and "Taquitos.mp4" about making taquitos, a small tortilla-based snack.
