Matthew Gardea, better known online as gardea23, is a Russian-American YouTuber who is best known for his "Mishka the Talking Husky" videos. Gardea uploaded his first video of Mishka titled Husky Dog Talking - I love you on February 7, 2008. Gardea has over 700 videos of Mishka talking and doing other things.

Mishka the Talking Husky[]

Mishka the Talking Husky ✝ (June 16, 2002 - April 5, 2017) was a Siberian Husky who rose to fame after Gardea uploaded a video of Mishka saying "I love you", which has gained over 100 million views on YouTube.[1] Mishka has been featured on TV shows Today Show and Live!: With Regis and Kelly,[2][3] and featured in a commercial for Purina Veterinary Diets's FortiFlora Probiotic Dog Supplement.[4] Mishka has also been featured in Kids React titled "Kids React to Husky Dog Talking",[5] which Mishka reacted back to.[6] According to Matt Gardea, Mishka had two sisters named "Moki the Mutt" (died July 10, 2013), and "Laika the Husky" (died 2022; date and month of death unknown), who were also featured in a lot of videos along with Mishka.

Death[]

On February 14, 2017, Mishka had problems walking after a tumor was surgically removed from her a few weeks prior. She was later taken to the vet to receive an anti-inflammatory shot and received medicine to help relieve the pain. However, she had continued to get worse a week later and started losing weight. She was then taken back to the vet, for further evaluations and X-rays.[7] On February 15, 2017, it was discovered that Mishka had a large, hard mass under her left armpit, which was why she had trouble walking. They then removed the mass for a biopsy.[8] On February 16, 2017, Mishka was diagnosed with cancer from a cancerous mast cell tumor.[9] On April 5, 2017, it was announced that Mishka had passed away at 14 years old.[10]

Trivia[]

  • Mishka means "Teddy Bear" in Russian.
  • Mishka saying "I love you" was actually just her howling, which sounded as if she was saying "I love you", it wasn't until later when she actually learned how to speak the English language.
