NO drum replacement was done in this mix, this is a 100% acoustically recorded and mixed track: absolutely no supplementation, layering, or triggering was done (recorded on a DW PDP Concept Maple kit).
This video was edited, mixed, and mastered by Cobus Potgieter.
A huge thank you to Blue Microphones and The House Of Rock for making this DW Drums shoot possible!
Filmed and recorded at the House Of Rock in Los Angeles CA, USA. http://2012houseofrock.com/
FIRST drum cover/performance of my band's music posted to my channel! What a crazy journey.
First off.. how epic does that kit sound?! It was such a joy to mix, be sure to check out the drums-only version (link at the end of the video). This was recorded on a PDP Concept Maple kit, which is an extremely affordable kit and it makes me so excited that you can get a sound like THIS at such a low price point. If you're in the market for a kit and want to keep the price tag as low as possible, be sure to check this kit out!
This song is SO much fun to drum to, mostly nice and simple, but always super powerful and intentional. Flams for the EPIC win. Two things I love about this track: the drum intro (YES!) contains some doubles on the kick (which is ALWAYS a blast to incorporate into patterns) and that little bit of tech at the end when I switch the up-beat accent on the china :) It makes the pattern sound completely different, and I love how it gives a different perspective on the same pattern as the ending of the song.
Also, WOW, you're really reading right to the end of this description. That's amazing. In either case: you are a flippin BEAST for reading this whole thing and I appreciate you as a human being. Didn't expect that, did you? Good. Now go and have yourself an awesome day. ______________________________
