Hello there chaps, I'm David Firth

―David Firth

David John Firth (born: January 23, 1983 (1983-01-23) [age 41]), also known as fatpie or Locust Toybox, is an English animator, writer, musician, actor, voice actor, filmmaker, artist, and broadcaster best known for his work on his original, Adobe Flash-animated series Salad Fingers. The first episode of Salad Fingers was largely distributed on the Internet, especially on Newgrounds and his own personal websites.

Videos[]

Firth's videos are primarily revolved around Flash animation, but he also produced multiple music videos along with works of video art, which in the end made him gain recognition.

His animation, sometimes surreal and experimental, primarily tends to contain dark humor, imagery, and topics of disturbing nature such as mental illness and depression. However, Firth has stated that upsetting or offending his audience is not one of his goals.

Firth has made multiple animated videos and a few animated series, like Jerry Jackson, Burnt Face Man, and most notably, Salad Fingers.

Series[]

Salad Fingers[]

Salad Fingers is a Flash-animated web series and the most notable work by Firth. This series is about the eponymous protagonist who is a mentally disturbed individual who often hallucinates and indulges in self-harm. Despite this, he means well and is friendly to everyone he encounters, though at times he absent-mindedly causes unintentional harm to them.

It is shown that he enjoys the sensation of rubbing his fingers on rusty objects, such as spoons and taps. This animated series is divided into eleven episodes. This is a list of episodes of Salad Fingers:

  • Many of the backgrounds come from photographs David took in the forest or in abandoned buildings.
  • He currently is working on a project called The Meadow Man but the project is still being worked on and he doubts it will be finished.
  • Firth gets many of his ideas from dreams as they're abstract enough to work into a cartoon.
