―Jordi's intro

LET’SSS DO THIS!

―Jordi’s old catchphrase

Jordi Maxim van den Bussche (born: June 1, 1995 (1995-06-01) [age 28]), better known online as Kwebbelkop (also known as Kwellapaap), is a Dutch English-speaking YouTuber known for his gaming videos. He used to do reaction content as well

Personal life[]

Jordi was born on June 1, 1995, in the Netherlands to Brigittela and Ben. In Jordi's childhood, Brigittela and Ben got divorced. Jordi's father Ben passed away in February 2017.

YouTube career[]

2008–2013: Creation of Kwebbelkop[]

Jordi made his channel Kwebbelkop in 2008 and uploading his first video on May 3, 2011. Around June 2013, Jordi started doing YouTube Full-Time.

2014–2019: Robust[]

In February 2014, Jordi, his friend Jelly and Aquib created a YouTube group called Robust. The trio used to upload races together. Later on, Aquib left and few months later, British YouTuber Josh (Slogo) met Jelly and Jordi and Gamescom 2014. Josh then became a member of the group. After Josh joined the trio, the trio became widely popular and even became members of PewDiePie's short-lived YouTube network, Revelmode. In 2019, Kwebbelkop was eventually replaced by Crainer. He mentioned in a later video that he left Robust due to mental health issues.

2019–present: Solo career and post-Robust collaborations[]

Jordi filmed solo videos until he met Hassan in March 2020. He and Hassan started to make gaming videos and then in July 2020, Jordi made an account for his friend Hassan named "Tiger". Later, Jordi collaborated with V-Tubers Bloo and Jam.

Other endeavors[]

Aside from YouTube, Jordi co-invested in the Backbone controller accessory for iPhone, as well as in cryptocurrency and NFTs. He co-founded LaunchMyNFT, an NFT launchpad. In 2023, he announced that he was developing a new video game titled Hellskate.

Controversies[]

Drama with Tiger/ending friendship[]

In July 2020, Hassan started to upload videos at the Tiger channel which was actually owned by Kwebbelkop. In February 2021, Jordi left recording with Hassan and Hassan made an expose video about Jordi. In February 2021, Hassan abandoned his Tiger channel and he made a new gaming channel named "Liger". On 20 March 2021, Hassan uploaded a video "Why I Left Kwebbelkop and Tiger" where he told that he was wanted a break. He said that he didn't want to go in details.

On April 1, 2021, all of a sudden Tiger channel uploaded a video where it was shown Hassan was stuck in a computer and Jordi opened the computer and talked to Hassan. Later on, Jordi uploaded videos with an animation of Hassan and used a voice changer app to make it look like Hassan. Hassan told that it wasn't him recording and uploading at the Tiger channel and he was just angry at Jordi. Hassan started to call Jordi "Kwellapaap". However on May 21, 2021, Liger posted a video saying he forgives Kwebblekop and that he doesn't have any hate with him, ending the drama between the two. However Kwebbelkop blocked Tiger on Twitter and Tiger says he doesn't care.

Switch to AI[]

On August 1, 2023, Jordi launched "Kwebbelkop AI", which would take over his channel and replace him with an AI-controlled CGI lookalike version of himself. His videos would consist of let's plays of Roblox and Minecraft as well as reactions, except his dialogue would be voiced and written entirely by AI. The change in content quickly drew criticism from fans, with many finding the new AI content lazy and inorganic.

Jordi would double down on his AI persona, responding to the criticism on September 23, 2023 with a video titled "The End of Kwebbelkop AI...", in which he would reveal a new model of his AI persona using his real-life appearance enhanced with AI technology instead of the old model's CGI. This would be revealed at the end of the 3-minute video where he reveals the Kwebbelkop seen speaking throughout the video was, in fact, entirely AI. The video drew further criticism, with many pointing out their issue not being with the accuracy of the model, but the idea of making AI content in the first place. Kwebbelkop would later put the video on private due to the criticism.

Kwebbelkop then uploads another video titled "Why Am I Still Getting Hate?" in the video the AI said after he reacted to Jelly's I Want You Back! song, that was made for Crainer and he was reacting not rudely to the song and not trying to mock Crainer. Then says that the real Kwebbelkop has moved on and it understands why everyone is upset about it, and that they don't want an AI the video received overwhelmingly negative reviews to Kwebbelkop not listening to his fans about why they don't like it, that they don't want an AI at all in the first place. Later, Kwebbelkop would also put his Why Am I Still Getting Hate? video privated.

Kwebbelkop's channel has seen a sharp decline since the switch. Jordi has become one of the most widely hated creators on the platform with the majority of recent uploads having a 5%-15% like to dislike ratio via Return YouTube Dislike and most comments being negative. Many fans and creators have criticized Jordi for his support on AI replacing human content creators.
