Hey, everybody. It's Chuggaaconroy!

―Chuggaaconroy

Emiliano Rodolfo "Emile" Rosales-Birou (born: April 8, 1990 (1990-04-08) [age 34]), better known by his online alias Chuggaaconroy or Chugga for short, is an American YouTuber and internet personality known for his lighthearted and mostly family-friendly approach to games. Contrasting from other Let’s Play channels, his content focuses on footage from Nintendo games several years after their initial release dates, mainly of titles he has played numerous times before. He reached 1 million subscribers and 760 million views in 2015, and has 1.25 million subscribers and 1.24 billion views as of 2024.

Emile created his YouTube account in 2008, and began his career with a Let's Play of EarthBound. For the next fifteen years, he made comprehensive walkthrough Let's Plays on various video games, the majority of which have been released on Nintendo platforms, including titles from the Mother, Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, Kirby, Pokémon and Xenoblade Chronicles video game franchises. Emile commentates in an informative manner in his videos with the purpose of guiding viewers to complete the game themselves. Emile's channel grew in popularity as his gameplay videos were often recommended on YouTube's suggestions. After more than two years of making Let's Plays, Emile became a YouTube Partner, and has been a Let’s Play creator on YouTube as a full-time job since 2013.

Alongside his own Let's Plays, Emile was one of the three founding members of the collab channel The Runaway Guys, alongside Johnathan Wheeler (Proton Jon) and Timothy Bishop (NintendoCapriSun), who did 46 Collab LPs and reached 487 thousand subscribers and 397 total video views as of 2023. Emile also did collaborations with several other Let's Players, including Stephen Georg and several Runaway Guys guest stars including MasaeAnela and Lucahjin, as well as other YouTubers including ProJared and Jirard The Completionist.

Early life[]

Emiliano Rodolfo Rosales-Birou was born on April 8, 1990 and is a native of Phoenix, Arizona. He is of French and Mexican descent. Emile has mentioned that he was poor as a child.[1][2] When he was younger, his mothers' nickname for him was Mimikins. Emile hated his real name as a kid and wanted to be called Steve. In sixth grade, a girl who hated him falsely claimed he sexually harassed her. At the time, Emile didn't even know what the term "sexually harassed" meant.

Emile’s father left his family when Emile was young. In his Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Let’s Play, Emile makes he clear his father was emotionally and possibly physically abusive to Emile with him saying that it caused him to fear for his life when he was very young, and when Emile did finally cut him out of his life his father multiple times tried to gaslight and victim blame Emile to think that he was a terrible person for cutting him out of his life, attempts that failed and only made Emile cutting his father out an easier choice and reaffirms that it was the right decision.

An EarthBound fan, which prior to the release of Xenoblade Chronicles was his favourite video game, Emile had been a member of the EarthBound community fan-site starmen.net as a teenager, where he became friends with fellow content creator Stephen Georg (StephenPlays/StephenVlog) in 2005, and also became friends with future Undertale and Deltarune creator Toby Fox. On an EarthBound-centric podcast, Emile told the story about his first girlfriend, back in high school. She was a huge EarthBound fan, but she wasn't the nicest person, and the relationship turned sour. Emile's best friend at the time decided to try to find out what was going on, and he found out the only reason she was dating Emile was to impress Toby Fox.

Emile studied statistics in college, but it is unknown whether he minored or majored in it, however. He later befriended FamilyJules. The first three games Emile played were Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Star Wars Episode I: Racer and Banjo-Kazooie. Emile introduced Stephen to the Let’s Play genre and inspired him to make his own gaming channel. A fan of the Mario series, Emile has cited Paper Mario as one of the most important games to his childhood. He later became a fan of his favourite video game franchise, the Pokémon series, which got him into RPGs.

Emile in 2008

Emile created his YouTube account on July 26, 2006 under the alias of "Chuggaaconroy". He got the name from a random name generator on a Cartoon Planet website; his username was originally "Chugga A. Conroy" before he changed it to "Chuggaaconroy". In 2007, just as the Let's Play format was getting popular, Emile found he really enjoyed watching videos of games like Ninja Gaiden and hacked versions of Super Mario World played by Jonathan Wheeler (Proton Jon), with Emile later citing Jon as his biggest inspiration for making videos. On March 16, 2008, Emile uploaded his first video, a handheld recorded video of a Super Smash Bros. Brawl replay, entitled "Super Smash Bros. Brawl Boss Very Hard Clear". A little under two weeks later, on March 26, 2008, he began making Let's Plays. In his Let's Play videos, Emile attempts to show every aspect of each individual game he plays to 100% completion, including every item, boss battle, sidequest, and Easter egg possible. Emile commentates in an informative manner in his videos with the purpose of guiding viewers to complete the game themselves. In spite of their informative nature, Emile’s Let's Play videos often employ humorous moments in his gameplay, such as the occasional failure or death in a level and subsequent backtracking.

Emile in the 2000s

Emile started out doing exclusively RPGs such as EarthBound, Mother 1, Paper Mario, Mother 3, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, but beginning with Super Mario Sunshine, he started doing other genres as well, such as platformers. Emile's Let's Play series of Super Mario Sunshine became by far the most popular of his LPs, although Emile doesn't consider it one of his best works as he was suffering from depression at the time for health reasons, and faked most of his enthusiasm. The LP nevertheless became his most popular LP and helped boost Emile's popularity, alongside several other successful LPs he released around this time, including his LPs of Pokémon FireRed and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. His channel further grew in popularity as his gameplay videos were often recommended on YouTube's suggestions. Back when video replies were allowed on YouTube, he had a lot of fan interactions then when challenging someone in-video to do certain gameplay content a certain way or better. Many of his earlier videos seem to lack much of his trademark enthusiasm—he's much quieter and speaks in a much less high-pitched, more deadpan voice. In earlier Let's Plays, Emile tended to mash through and talk over story content (dialogue, cutscenes, etc.) while being generally dismissive of what was going on. Emile later cited the 11 minute time limit that YouTube had at the time as the reason for this.

Chuggaaconroy 2021

Emile in 2021

In 2010, after more than two years at making Let's Plays, Emile became a YouTube Partner, which was unprecedented among Let's Players at the time (multiple others have since become partners), due to the legal "gray area" that showing game footage entails. Successful LPs he released around this time include Pokémon Crystal, Ōkami, Super Luigi Galaxy, Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin 2, and Super Paper Mario, while Ōkamiden was the first Let's Play to feature his iconic Cc logo initially designed by Stephen Georg. After he became a YouTube Partner and could upload longer videos, Emile started reading through dialogue completely, and actually makes an effort to give the characters in the game good voices. He also goes silent for non-dialogue moments in cutscenes with minimal aside commentary, giving the story focus in the game's context.

Chuggaaconroy 2022

Emile in 2022

In 2014, Emile became a Let’s Play creator on YouTube as a full-time job, and has continued making successful LPs including Xenoblade Chronicles, Pikmin 3, Pokémon Black & White, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Pokémon Black 2 & White 2. He also made two redux Let's Plays, EarthBound in 2018 and Paper Mario in 2023, which contain more background informing than the original LPs. Emile cited the 11 minute time limit as the reason for remaking the two LPs, which he said prevented him from talking about background information about the games in the original LPs.

Emile reached 1 million subscribers and 760 million views in 2015, and has 1.25 million subscribers and 1.24 billion views as of 2024. For his channel's tenth anniversary, Emile made a two-hour long video titled "Creating a Let's Play: What You've Taught Me", where he goes over his process for making let's plays. He would also do a redux of his first Let's Play, EarthBound, for that same anniversary.

The Runaway Guys[]

Therunawayguys

Emile (Chuggaaconroy) with Johnathan Wheeler (Proton Jon) and Timothy Bishop (NintendoCapriSun)

Emile was a founding member of The Runaway Guys, a collab channel with Johnathan Wheeler (Proton Jon) and Timothy Bishop (NintendoCapriSun). Emile was in charge of maintaining the channel, although Jon made posts and comments for the channel as well. For the first two years, updates usually only occurred every Saturday, but this was changed to Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday following an announcement on February 8, 2013. Videos for Mario Party games (starting with the third) and Fortune Street were also posted daily (each board beginning on Saturday and continuing every day until its end).

Their first Let's Play premiered on February 5, 2011. The three of them were the only ones participating, but many of their later videos featured additional players. From the creation of the channel in 2011 to it going on indefinite hiatus in 2024, 46 main collab LPs were produced, along with five side collab LPs and six tournament LPs. Along with their official long-running LPs, they did one-shot filler LPs (labeled "The Runaway Gaiden"), tournaments featuring multitudes of guest players, and side collab projects that they gradually update and use as filler between regular projects.

On occasion at various conventions, the Runaway Guys had their own panel, called Thrown Controllers, a live game show which focused on video game trivia and challenges. The event was broadcast on numerous gaming conventions such as PAX, Magfest and Momocon. In its debut at PAX East 2012, two teams took turns answering questions and playing video game challenges, either against each other, solo, or against members of the audience. At PAX Prime 2012, they retooled the game into a single-person quiz show with challenges, similar to the initial concept except for one person at a time, and this is how it has been done since. Many prizes were awarded at these panels, ranging from character pins from Fangamer to (as a grand prize) an actual video game console, such as a Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, or Nintendo Switch.

In May of 2018, The Runaway Guys Colosseum was live streamed as a weekend long event to raise money for Direct Relief. This was followed up in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. All of them once again in benefit of Direct Relief. With the combined efforts of the community, event staff, and the performers, a total over $1,000,000 was raised by 2023.

Collaborations and Guest Appearances[]

Emile has collaborated with quite a few other YouTubers, including several guest stars of The Runaway Guys on their various Let's Plays. He has made several guest appearances, most notably by making regular appearances on Stephen Georg's vlog channel. Emile was also well known for his work with The Speed Gamers, even appearing live at their home base for two separate marathons.

Emile collaborated with Proton Jon and NintendoCapriSun on 46 Collab Runaway Guys Let's Plays, with him playing some of the games himself and giving advice to either Tim or Jon in the ones they played. In addition to their collab LPs, Emile also participated in several Runaway Guys related events, including Thrown Controllers and The Runaway Guys Colosseum. Alongside the other Runaway Guys, Emile was part of a collective of gamers called TheGameStation (since rebranded as Polaris), before he, Tim and Jon went independent some years later.

While he worked with The Speed Gamers, Emile did speed-runs of games, such as EarthBound and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for marathons. He helped commentate a few times, and also had an account on the The Speed Gamers forums. He appeared on-camera during the Winter 2009 Pokémon Marathon, wearing a silver mask concealing his face. He helped out in the Mother/EarthBound marathon with The Speed Gamers, by doing a speed run of EarthBound, and attempting to break the world record. Due to unfortunate circumstances, he did not accomplish his goal. He attended the Mario Marathon on June 11, 2010 for The Speed Gamers, to raise money for ACT Today, where he took off his mask and showed his face to the public for the first time.

Emile made regular appearances on Stephen Georg's channel, and they appeared in each other's videos regularly. He was also commissioned by Emile to do his "CC" channel logo, starting with Ōkamiden. Stephen became friends with Emile on starmen.net in 2005, before either people started on YouTube. They did not meet in person until Emile stayed with him and his wife Mallory for a few days, and they became close friends. In Stephen's vlogs, Emile is known for always being extremely generous to Stephen and Mallory, and is notorious for always intentionally ending the vlog incorrectly.

Emile collaborated with several other YouTubers and Let's Players in his Pikmin 3 Mission Mode series, including Stephen Georg, Proton Jon, NintendoCapriSun, Lucahjin, ProJared, Jirard The Completionist and MasaeAnela. He collaborated with Marriland on the now unlisted series Chugga & Marriland In DisastORAS!!.

In July 2022, Emile, Partyarlie, Ajentvee, and Bryand were contestants on the first episode of The4thGenGamer's Speedrun Survivor series, where they were given the challenge of completing Pokémon Omega Ruby as fast as possible. Emile was coached by PulseEffect and ultimately won the challenge. In December 2022, Emile collaborated with YouTubers JaidenAnimations, Alpharad, and ScottFalco on a video where they played Splatoon 3. Emile lent Jaiden his DS capture card for her video on Fossil Fighters, with Jaiden giving him a shout-out at the end of the video The Most Underrated Game Ever for his generosity.

Controversies[]

2010 suspension[]

In July 2010, Emile was suspended under false copyright claims, though his account was restored a month later in August.[3] He was among several prominent YouTubers who had their accounts briefly suspended as a result of false copyright violation claims, including fellow Let's Player Timothy Bishop (NintendoCapriSun), as well as then rant YouTuber TheArchfiend.

Prior to Emile's suspension, YouTube partner support was contacted constantly in order to prevent him from getting suspended and to notify them about the vandals submitting the false claims. For a while, it looked like Emile might not get suspended, but the vandals redirected all of their efforts at him to finally get him suspended on July 16th. The videos that Emile received false copyright claims for were three episodes of his Pokémon Crystal LP and one episode of his Super Mario Sunshine LP.

The person or group of people went around YouTube reporting videos for false copyright violations under false names (like Timothy Bishop, the real name of NintendoCapriSun), sometimes affiliated themselves with large companies like Nintendo. For instance, one of Emile’s videos was taken down by a user who claimed to own the copyrights to the Pokémon franchise, while another was taken down by a user who claimed ownership over Emile’s voice.

Emile responded by submitting counter-claims to the vandals that took down his account with false claims, by doing this, he was able to negate the effects of their claims. On 1st August 2010, Emile had his account restored.[4] The temporary suspension led to Emile's channel getting further attention after it was reported on multiple websites including Zelda Universe, ironically doing him more good than harm in the end.

2021 EarthBound video copyright takedowns[]

In June 2021, five episodes of the EarthBound redux Let's Play made by Emile got blocked by the Japanese division of Sony Music because of the game's soundtrack, which they own the distribution rights to. Emile was among several YouTubers effected by this, who said that their EarthBound-based videos were being flagged for copyright by Sony. In some cases, it was reported that Sony claimed the ad revenue for the video in question; in others, the videos appeared to have been removed entirely.[5][6][7][8]

Emile lost his redux EarthBound LPs’ ad revenue and five of his videos from the redux LP, including the 31st episode entitled EarthBound - Episode 31: Siding with the Man, were removed.[9][10] Emile tweeted about this on June 20, saying: "Hey guys, I’m sure you’ve heard about Sony Music taking down EarthBound videos. Unfortunately, I too haven’t escaped unscathed. They started by taking my ad revenue, I disputed it, and they came back saying “Nope! We own your video!” But whatever, at least they were still up. As of today, some episodes of the EarthBound Let’s Play remake have been taken down for copyright. I’m working on the problem, but am unsure which direction it will go. It’s a shame because I consider that series one of the best things I’ve made and now you can’t view it through. For those asking “How can Sony own EarthBound videos?!” It’s because they distributed a CD of the music in Japan, so it’s in their archives of things to claim automatically."

Emile had filed requests to get the videos restored, and they were restored a week later on July 3, 2021 after Jirard The Completionist helped Emile get in touch with some people.[11] Emile made a tweet later that day in which he said "The entirety of the EarthBound Remake has been restored! Thanks to Completionist for getting me in touch with some people who could deal with this problem! All it took was getting somebody to actually read my emails to see these claims were fraudulent. Bonus: To the contrarians who were all "UM, ACTUALLY. You don't understand the music industry and Sony is within their full legal right to claim your videos of a game they didn't make!" Yeah, no. There's a difference between being granted a license and owning something."[12]

However, the following week on July 17, 2021, the 5th episode of the redux EarthBound LP was taken down, which Emile tweeted about, saying "Revenge of the Sony! I guess they aren’t done claiming they made EarthBound yet."[13] Jirard immediately helped Emile resolve the situation, and the video was later restored.[14]

2024 misconduct allegations[]

In January 2024, multiple misconduct allegations emerged against Chuggaaconroy. These allegations began when Lady Emily said that Emile had persistently attempted to initiate erotic foot fetish roleplay with her despite her disinterest.[15] [16] While Emile did make a full apology to Emily several days later[17] [18][19][20][21], these initial allegations only gained more traction when Emile's ex-girlfriend MasaeAnela came forward with the revelation that Emile had repeatedly made her feel uncomfortable and pushed boundaries with her, despite being told again and again to stop.[22] [23] This was followed by evidence of sexual online chat with a 15-year-old fan named Lawly when he was 19.[24] [25]

In April 2024, Emile made his full response, in which he revealed that he and Masae had dated for 10 years and were engaged prior to having a rough breakup, that Emily never communicated with him that he'd said anything that made her uncomfortable, and that Lawly's goal was to manipulate him into having sex with her and that she had sent a sexually explicit gift to his house. This whole experience was so harmful to Emile's health, he's not sure that he even wants this job any more. Emile doesn't know if the life he would have if he started making videos again would be anything he would like.[26]

Commentary and video style[]

Chuggaaconroy 2013

Emile in 2013

As a Let's Player, Emile is known for his high production values, regular update schedule, lighthearted and mostly family-friendly approach to games, his propensity for catchphrases and running gags, his impressive lung capacity, his hilariously bad puns, and overblown reactions to things that happen throughout his playthroughs. Contrasting from other Let’s Play channels, Emile's content focuses on footage from Nintendo games several years after their initial release dates, mainly of titles he has played numerous times before.

After he became a YouTube Partner and could upload longer videos, Emile started reading through dialogue completely, and actually makes an effort to give the characters in the game good voices. He also goes silent for non-dialogue moments in cutscenes with minimal aside commentary, giving the story focus in the game's context. Emile has also sometimes gone silent during memorable dialogue moments. For example, in Episode 49 of his Super Paper Mario Let's Play, Emile goes silent during the scene where Luvbi is told that she is the Pure Heart. With the exception of EarthBound and Mother 1, most of Emile's Let's Plays from 2008 to 2012 had no episode titles. Starting with Ōkamiden and Pokémon Colosseum, Emile would start giving his episodes titles again, partially as a way to add charm to the videos, and as a way to make more puns.

In his Let's Play videos, Emile attempts to show every aspect of each individual game he plays to 100% completion, including every item, boss battle, sidequest, and Easter egg possible. Emile commentates in an informative manner in his videos with the purpose of guiding viewers to complete the game themselves. For example, in his Pokémon Emerald Let's Play he discusses various strategies and viable techniques to ensure optimal success in the game, in his redux EarthBound Let's Play he showcases a particular glitch in the game involving the Tent located in Threed, and in his redux Paper Mario Let's Play he showcases alternate methods of playing the game including Danger Mario, and also shows what every badge ability does in battle at least once. All of his Pokémon Let's Plays feature bios for all the Pokémon encountered in the games, as well as bios for the gym fights. In this regard, his gameplay videos function as informative walkthroughs with the premise of guiding players through each aspect of the specific game he plays.

In spite of their informative nature, Emile’s Let's Play videos often employ humorous moments in his gameplay, such as the occasional failure or death in a level and subsequent backtracking. His videos have also been described as nostalgic and reflective, as he often tells personal anecdotes of his experiences with the games he plays. His Let's Plays inspired several memes, including Steve the Trooper and the 98 Blue Pikmin freakout from his Pikmin LP, the Waterwraith encounter from his Pikmin 2 LP, Bowser's Arms from his Super Paper Mario LP, the Hiker Dance from his Pokémon Black & White LP, his excitement over Chuck Quizmo from his redux Paper Mario LP, and the Backpacker Dance from his Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 LP. His Let's Plays also contain several recurring gags, including the Epic No.

Personal life[]

Emile has mentioned in videos that he struggled with family and financial issues during his childhood, as well as with autism. For a short period of time, he believed he was misdiagnosed. However, in his EarthBound remake series he later backed down from that statement, having no evidence to disprove it.

In his day-to-day life, Emile tends to follow a pretty straightforward and rigid schedule. He goes to the gym on a frequent basis to psyche himself up for recording and even hired a personal trainer, he neatly organizes his video game and merchandise collections, he tends to his pets at precise times (prior to their passing), and he tends to frequent the same restaurants over and over again (notably Applebee's and Buffalo Wild Wings). Emile does spice things up with his eccentric personality, but as stated in his Animal Crossing: New Leaf LP on his birthday, this routine makes him feel happy and accomplished.

In a Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 playthrough episode on August 2023, Emile mentioned that he was in a relationship and had been playing the game with his girlfriend off-screen, albeit her identity was not revealed.[27]

In his fifth anniversary video, Emile reveals that he personally thinks his early Lets Plays suck, mainly because he was so afraid to be himself back then. The fact that he was limited to only ten minute videos at the time forced Emile to rush through games, in stark contrast to the more in-depth playthroughs that attempt to show off everything they had to offer that he's since become known for. The current playlist description for his Mother LP explicitly singles it out as his least favorite LP.

Since 2021, Emile has been housemates with Timothy Bishop (NintendoCapriSun) in Georgia. Whenever he visited Emile in the past, Tim typically stayed in a messy spare room where Emile keeps old consoles and other classic stuff. Tim visited Emile for a couple weeks in 2021, because he had just found out that Kirby (his cat) had kidney failure and he thought the cat only had a few weeks left, and he wanted to be there for Emile for that. In the end, Kirby lived almost a whole another year. At the time he moved into Emile's house, Tim was going through some health problems, and when Emile saw what a state Tim was in, he let him live in his house and urged Tim to a clinic and he took him to the gym, which led to Tim's health greatly improving.

This is more rigged than Saddam Hussein's trial!"
  • "I'll tell you right away, I'm glad I met a lady who has the same good taste in items that I-WHADDAYA MEAN THAT'S A BACK ATTACK?"
  • "BUGSY'S A BOY?!"
  • "There is a Pokémon that I want to get in this area, so let's look around for it for a second and-alright, maybe this is it now. Yes, this is it, and... OH MY GOD!"
  • "PIKMIN WORLD PEACE"
  • Looks at the moon* "Hey buddy how's it going?" *Looks away* "...You know what?" *Looks back* "What are you up to this fine night? Looking to destroy the world, you read any good books? *pause* Ah, I see, you read the chapter in the bible on the apocalypse. Ah. Okay. *pause* ...I'm just trying to make good conversation until it's 2AM okay, c'mon, there's no one else around to talk to!"
  • "OH MY GOD CARDBOARD BOXES HAVE TAKEN OVER THE WORLD I ALWAYS KNEW THEY WERE EVIL!"
  • "'Or, will you follow us back to our hideout in Lilycove City?' WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME WHERE TO FIND YOU?! Your grunts told me what you were doing and where you would be and you told me where you were taking what you were stealing and where I could confront you, and even asked me if I would. What is wrong with you?! Maxie might have the stupidest voice, but at least he's not that stupid!"
  • "Okay, so last video: There's something I wanted to address because I was called out on two things by you, the viewers. First thing is entirely my fault. I typed up Beautifly's name as "Beautiful." I make mistakes, I deserved to be called out on it. Thank you for pointing that out. Second though, I really need to address. [Talking very fast] It was when I said that Wurmple evolves at random. I received hundreds upon hundreds of comments trying to educate me that it depends on gender, time of day, or some other not-random factor. I am here to disprove this because it is not dependent on gender but on personality value. Gender is only one of four integers that make up a Pokémon's personality value. This is a 32-bit value between 0 and 4,294,967,295, represented in binary, that was introduced in Generation III, one generation after gender was implemented for Pokémon other than Nidoran. Breaking down how this works, Wurmple's evolution depends on the last two bytes of this integer, only one of which decides the Pokémon's gender. It is determined by taking these numbers combined between the two bytes of memory, dividing them by 10, and seeing if the remainder is more or less than 5. If the remainder is less than 5, you get a Silcoon. If it is equal to or greater than 5, you get a Cascoon. There's many player's guides floating around out there that have this detail wrong, so I can understand why you would think otherwise. But if you're gonna try to correct me, please get your facts straight before you do, otherwise, I CAN AND WILL NERD OUT ON YOU. But, what do I know? I can't even spell "Beautifly" right!"
  • "The day of this video getting uploaded... is March 2- is uh, March 19; recording this pretty far in advance. But, this day has signficance. This is the ninth anniversary of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire being released in North America, and as such I am going to- [Groudon gets into a Nest Ball at almost full health] Oh my god! OH MY GOD! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! WHERE YOU AT?! ...I've lost man points, heavily."
  • "YOU SON OF A CANADIAN!"
  • "Uh-huh, I'm such a loser... " (Normally after making an awkward statement.)
  • "Lord Arceus from above!." (Most Pokémon LPs)
  • "END OF CHAPTER!" (Paper Mario Let's Plays) (pronounced "CHEEEAPTEER!!!")
  • "D'oh, I missed!" (Every series since the Mario Party Runaway Guys Collaboration)
  • "WHERE YOU AT?!" (Said when something incredible happens, such as catching Groudon in a Nest Ball, or finding a Hidden Block in Mario Party)
  • "For the sheer fact"
  • "Whatever."
  • "You jerk!" (when a Pokémon Trainer uses a Potion or a healing technique when the Pokémon is almost knocked out)
  • "Should we do Daisy on Hard?"
  • "I'm inside Daisy's heart shaped box."
  • "Shut up" (Most LPs)
  • "So yeah"
  • "Haw-haw!"
  • "Die" (Used many different ways)
  • "Speaking of-"
  • "Next time on (name of LP), we will (states plans for the next episode). See you guys then/I will see you guys later." (Ending a episode of a LP)
  • "And that is (name of LP)." (said when ending finale to main story/final video of LP)

  • "I've been silent for the past few days, apologies for worrying anybody but I didn't feel like I could post this. In the past week, our cat and good friend Teddy passed away. I'm happy to say that he went about as painlessly as possible. He was sick for about a year and surpassed everyone's expectations, living a mostly normal life without any real hindrance up until about two weeks ago. Though he isn't quite as well known as Kirby, he was a regular part of the channel and pages, whether it was in making visual appearances, being mentioned in commentary, or serving as the namesake for my Slakoth in Emerald. I felt I should tell you all rather than have him just disappear, since in some small ways, he was your cat too. I have no personal regrets about his time here and think that we had the closest bond I've ever had with an animal, I feel I did everything I could and he got to do everything he liked to do in his last weeks here. If I may be honest, this was the personal issue that I'd been dealing with that kept me from regular updates these past weeks and I just didn't feel like I could talk about it until now. To give an idea of how much time went into this, we went to lengths to make sure he'd get to see all of his family again, even those that lived far away since my leaving home a few years back. Frequently, I dropped my plans for the day to take care of him or just felt really depressed by the whole situation and didn't feel like I could make a fun video. My personal opinion is that one should have a good time making every video, because a video is there for people to watch for years to come and shouldn't just be a daily quota for the sake of posting something right in the moment. This is about Teddy, though, so I don't want to make this an update about the channel. I'll have news about that soon. For now, thank you for all your comments about him over the years. Going back and reading your comments on his pictures has been a source of good feelings." - Chuggaaconroy's tribute to his cat Teddy.
  • "I know it can be hard to say how you really feel about things, I know it can be scary and make you feel like you don't belong someplace. I've had plenty of that feeling throughout my life. But the fact is, I see so many people every day, that seem to believe they are powerless. That they won't really make a difference because they're one person. And more than anything else in my life, this was already something that I strongly believed in, but more than anything else in my life, that experience of sharing the news that Teddy had passed away with all of you: If there was anything good that came from losing Teddy... It was seeing just how powerful expression can be. In this amazing world, where everything is interconnected, where you can talk to anyone at anytime, and I think it's such a shame that there are people out there that use this to make other people feel terrible, to hurt other people. It has tremendous power, and ironically, the people that I see hurting other people with this ability, are those who believe they are powerless, are those who believe they won't make a difference. And in a lot of cases, I feel that's why people do it, because they feel like it won't matter and they might as well make themselves noticed somehow. What I'm trying to say is: Don't forget to express what you feel. All of us I'm sure, I know definitely I have, wished at some point or another that they had somebody that would be empowering or who would say something like that to them. And YOU can be that person that you wished you had." — Emile's speech at the end of Episode 67 of his Pokémon Platinum Let's Play, on the power of expression.
  • "I'm struggling to believe this is real, but I'm here to inform you that Pippy passed away very suddenly last night. Always a loving, smart rabbit with a bit of a temper, she was herself and living a normal life even on her last day. She was approaching her fifth birthday. It's unfortunately typical for rabbits to go without much warning, but even knowing that, this caught us all off-guard. As far as I'm able to tell, it was just a freak, hard to predict incident as she was up and moving an hour before it happened. I hope you made it to a spacious place and enjoy not needing to be brushed again. I love you, Pippy." - Chuggaaconroy's tribute to his rabbit Pippy
  • "Hello, I come with some unfortunate news today. Tim and I will not be attending The Runaway Guys Colosseum this year. As of last night, Tim tested positive for COVID-19 and as we live together, I’ve been exposed for the last several days and started to feel sick yesterday. We’ve decided it’s best to not risk our health and others by traveling while we’re likely both infected. I won’t sugar coat it, it extremely sucks to say this, but assuming we’re well enough to perform, we will be video called in for some segments. I have full trust in our group of 20 others still attending to put on a great event! I’ll be watching from home and I’m certain you’ll hear from me in some donations. We’ve both been good and never caught this before now, it’s just so unfortunately timed that it had to be now." - Chuggaaconroy announcing that he and NintendoCapriSun would not be attending The Runaway Guys Colosseum 2023 due to them both contracting COVID-19
  • "I come to you today with sorrowful news. As of this morning, we said goodbye to our dear friend Kirby. He wasn't himself this week and we confirmed he was in renal failure, so it was just time to let him go. His life ended with him falling asleep while being pet by his family. We will miss his loving nature and his sense of timing, whether it be a funny meow or to comfort whoever needed it. He lived the longest, happiest life of any animal friend I've ever had, and would have been 20 years old in just a few more days. He taught me so much about caring, and I consider him an example of the little guy surprising us all. This channel will be going silent for a few days, but know your love for Kirby is felt and will be read as we feel able. May Kirby rest well." - Chuggaaconroy's tribute to his cat Kirby
