Turner Ellis Tenney (born: January 2, 1998 (1998-01-02)), better known online as Tfue (formerly FaZe Tfue), is an American streamer, YouTuber and eSports player from Florida. He gained most of his success playing Fortnite: Battle Royale. Previously a Twitch streamer, Turner is currently a streamer for Kick.

On June 8, 2018, Turner and his friends Nick Eh 30, ONE_shot_GURL, and Cloakzy, once set a PC world record with the most squad eliminations in Fortnite: Battle Royale, having 53 eliminations.

History

Turner is a member and sibling of the JOOGSQUAD and had done a lot of collaborative videos on the channel containing trampoline stunts, surfing, scooters, and skateboarding. After a while, he then did a lot of successful cliff and bridge jumping. Turner started off his own YouTube channel and Twitch channel as a Call of Duty and Destiny YouTuber / Streamer. He has also done multiple how-to videos and commentary videos. In late 2016, Turner moved on to H1Z1 and has done multiple compilations of his best moments. Turner then started playing PUBG a few months after it's release. Turner only had 70,000 subscribers before getting success after being invited to FaZe on April 30, 2018. FaZe Tfue Twitch and YouTube both blew up at an exponential rate ever since joining FaZe. However, Turner left FaZe on May 20, 2019, due to FaZe limiting his ability to pursue his career.

Turner Buys a Skin

On November 5, 2018, Epic Games sent an Email towards Turner telling him if he wanted the Fortnite NFL Football Skins early, and Turner 'respectively said' no. But, Fortnite did instead give Turner all the Football skins to him. Turner claims he is now a 'poser' if he still uses the recruit (default) skin, "just like everyone else". Turner also said that was the reason why he made one tweet saying "100,000 RETWEETS AND ILL BUY A SKIN" because he is no longer a 'real default'. The tweet reaches 100,000 retweets and Turner purchases the 'Bullseye' skin on November 6.

Hacked

On August 7, 2018, Turner's social media accounts (Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook) were hacked. His Twitter name was changed to 'FaZe Gurv' and the profile picture was a mysterious man. There were also tweets insulting other YouTubers and Fortnite Streamers, mainly towards Keemstar, Ninja, and Myth. It also showed a Direct Message from Turner and FaZe Kay, which contained private messages that were also mentioning FaZe Banks. The YouTube account featured a video advertising hackers spanking each other. On one of the suspects' Twitter account, it 'revealed' Turner's password which was mainly criticizing Myth saying, "Tfue's password is MythIsAFaggotWhoCampsInOneByOnesAllGame". The only problem for logging in was, Email was stayed blocked by the hackers, possible 2-step verification, and possible phone verification. And on Turner's Twitch, it contained Fortnite gameplay by hackers and was on PS4. Jack Tenney, Turner's brother, member of the JOOGSQUAD, did comment on Turner's latest video containing Turner and Ninja playing together and mentioned that Turner was hacked and is now trying to get Turner's social's back and to also make sure the hacking never happens again.

One day later, Turner says he does not have access to his YouTube Channel. Also, Turner's YouTube profile picture was changed to a termination profile picture, which automatically goes to it when their YouTube channel gets terminated. As Turner was never terminated on YouTube, it was found out that Turner's Google+ was suspended, which is connected to YouTube's usernames and profile pictures.

On August 14, 2018, Turner got his YouTube account back, and had changed it back to his current profile picture, but had removed 'FaZe' off his name. He then made a video explaining the situation to those who are unaware and said they had a long call with AT&T.

Deleted

On August 23, 2018, Turner's YouTube channel had been closed by a hacker, which Turner was hacked not long ago before. On the same day, his Twitch was suspended once more due to harassment. People had claimed that Turner did not harass anyone, but his chat was. Turner had announced on Twitter about his YouTube account and his Twitch channel and said there will be more information later to come. Another Twitch streamer, Ninja, had said his YouTube account will be back later and his Twitch is not a permanent ban.

Restored

On September 5, 2018, Turner's YouTube channel and Twitch account were reinstated. He became the most viewed streamer on that day.

Temporary Retirement and contract with Kick

On June 20, 2023, after almost 2 months of internet absence, Turner uploaded a video to YouTube announcing his retirement. However, on November 19, 2023, Turner would come out of retirement to announce he will be streaming on Kick. His reason for moving from Twitch to Kick is due to excessive advertisements on Twitch, and praises Kick for having no ads on the platform.

Personal Life

Turner was born in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, US. He has a brother named Jack Tenney who goes by the name of 'JOOGSQUAD PPJT' on YouTube. Turner has dated Instagram model, Corinna Kopf. The two broke up in June 2019, but they've claimed that they're still good friends.

Controversy

H1Z1 World Record

Turner once uploaded a video called, "40 kill solo game (King of the hill)", and he was placed 6th. People have been saying that it was Set-up to be filled with Stream Snipers letting Turner get the kills, without actually playing against each other most of the time. The video does have a high dislike ratio but still does have more likes.

Banned From Twitch

On May 17, 2018, Turner was banned from Twitch for saying a racial slur. Turner made a video explaining the whole situation. Turner said he went to Tilted Towers and saw one person with a character having dark skin. Turner said "Where is this coon?" and was thought to be racial according to his fans and Twitch themselves. However, the person's skin was from a Twitch Prime pack with dark outfits, not dark skin. Turner has apologized for the situation. However, the next day after being banned from Twitch, Turner's ban was reduced from 30 days to 7 days, meaning he was available on Twitch again by May 24, 2018. He started streaming again there and still streams now.

Fortnite Account Banned

Coincidently, one month after Turner's ban on Twitch, Turner's Fortnite account was permanently banned on June 22, 2018, due to selling accounts with rare outfits, which was shown on Twitter by him asking for outfits/accounts. Many people thought it was due to wallhacking, where you place a window and you can successfully go through it on the other side from the window. It was found that it wasn't the case. Turner did create a new account called, "Not Tfue" with no outfits. He said that he doesn't care about skins and/or is already used to it, so he played with only a recruiter skin, which people call it a "default" or "no skin".

Suing FaZe Clan

On May 20, 2019, Turner sued FaZe for allegedly limiting his ability to pursue his career. This is a violation of the California Law, a state FaZe house takes in.

Turner says he's missing out on opportunities because of FaZe Clan's illegal activity in connection with a deal he signed in April 2018, keeping only 20% of the revenue from any branded videos that are published on Twitch, YouTube or social media alongside half of his revenue from touring and appearances. Turner also says FaZe Clan pressured him to live in one of its homes in the Hollywood Hills with other young YouTubers, where he says he was given alcohol before legal age under California laws (21 years old) and encouraged to illegally gamble. Turner also decided to leave FaZe Clan the same day on his own will so he can pursue his career on his full control.

Banks' Response

Ricky "FaZe Banks" Banks made a response to the allegations on Twitter, stating that the allegations were made up and lies. Fans replied saying Banks is lying. FaZe Clan on Twitter made a response stating that they collected no money from the tournaments he competed, Twitch/YouTube revenue, and from other social media. FaZe claimed they only collected $60,000 from partnerships and with Turner collecting millions during the time in FaZe clan.

Banks then made a response on YouTube stating that Turner was the one pressuring people into doing things. As soon as Turner went to Los Angeles to meet Banks and other YouTubers, Turner immediately went to the Hollywood Reservoir and did stunts as usual. He strongly and successfully attempted to make others do it.

Banks then mentions a deleted video Turner uploaded, where a party took place at Turner's current girlfriend's house before turning 21 years old. A BB gun was shot through someone's cheek as another stunt, and drinking was involved.

Turner's Response

On May 22, 2019, Turner made a brief two-minute video quickly addressing the allegations of being pressured to illegally gamble, drinking, and performing dangerous stunts. Tenny explains that he did not want that in the lawsuit and will have his lawyer disclose it. The rest of the video revolved around Turner explaining his feelings on his contract ever since joining FaZe Clan. Turner urges FaZe to release his contract to the public so his fans can see the deal Turner was signed into. This started a trend #ReleaseTheContract. Unlike FaZe Banks’s response, Turner kept his response short and simply asked for them to show his contract.

FaZe Banks said he will release the contract as soon as possible for the public to see.

Contract Leaked

On May 23, 2019, the contract has been leaked by 'The Blast News'. The contract states that Turner only gets 80% of brand deals, 50% of merchandise, 50% brand deals, 50% appearance fees, and 20% Prize Pools, which sums up only having 50% of what he earns towards FaZe Clan. Keemstar of DramaAlert confirmed on Twitter that it was real.

Conclusion

Since the release of FaZe Banks' video on Turner, he lost over 30,000 subscribers on YouTube, with Banks gaining over 200,000 subscribers thanks to the video. But since Turner's response, he was starting to gain fans again at a fast rate.

Countersue

FaZe Clan countersued Turner on August 1, 2019. FaZe claims Turner disparaged the team, stole its confidential information and interfered with the team's other business contracts and relationships. The lawsuit comes as a response to one that Turner and his attorney filed against FaZe Clan in 3 months prior. FaZe Clan's CEO Lee Trink told Bloomberg on Thursday that it hoped to resolve the matter privately, but that a settlement between the team and the player became impossible. "We had no choice," Trink told Bloomberg. "It became impossible to move any type of resolution forward through our conversations."

Additionally in the countersuit, FaZe claims that Turner earned as much as $20 million since he joined FaZe Clan in April 2018 and that the company is responsible for much of his success. FaZe said it taught Turner unique methods of creating and promoting content that helped lead to his success. FaZe also said that Turner violated a non-disparagement clause in his agreement with the team.

Per the lawsuit, FaZe said that they learned that Turner wished to terminate his agreement so that he could create another eSports organization to compete with FaZe, citing a Forbes report published on May 25. FaZe claims that Turner has also sought to have other members of the team reconsider their agreements, including his duo partner Cloakzy.

Using a Racial Slur

On September 3, 2019, Turner was playing Minecraft on stream. At one point in the stream, Turner said a racial slur stating "Y'all motherf***ers killed that n***a. Y’all can suck my pee-pee, man." The way he said it was probably an accident and doesn’t appear to be directed at an individual, but it’s still in violation of Twitch’s community guidelines, which prohibit "hateful conduct...that promotes, encourages, or facilitates discrimination, denigration, objectification, harassment, or violence based on race, ethnicity" and other characteristics. Turner had made no response to the clip.

Outburst with Cloakzy and 72hrs

Turner and his friends Cloakzy and 72hrs have been Fortnite competitive trio partners several times. Three of them placed 11th in the first week of the trio champion series, and 5th place on the 2nd week. The outburst started by Turner asking for another trio, Cloakzy tweeting about doing an advertisement, and 72hrs asking for trio partners as well. Turner then turned his stream on several minutes later. And around the beginning of the stream, Cloakzy was spamming Turner in the chat stating "If you want to play we have to cut an hour short for this one and start an hour late for next @Tfue", meaning they are going to play the next trio champion series an hour late. Turner made the response stating that Cloakzy and 72hrs have not been playing Fortnite as much as they used to, such as playing World of Warcraft Classic and taking a break from Fortnite. However, Turner thought they were still going to play the trio champion series. Turner was also offered by Madden to play their game for $140,000. Turner declined the offer because he thought he was still going to play with his trio Cloakzy and 72hrs. Turner later said he was not upset, but Cloakzy and 72hrs did not tell Turner about the deal when they were playing Madden for a brand deal.

Cloakzy and 72hrs response

When Cloakzy was doing a viewing party, he responded about Turner declining the brand deal, stating that Turner made a dumb decision to decline the brand deal.

When 72hrs was playing World of Warcraft Classic, he responded about himself and Cloakzy accepting the brand deal with Madden and later on asked Turner about it so they could be a trio in the game.

MrBeast Tournament

On April 25, 2020, MrBeast created a Rock Paper Scissors tournament as part of a fundraiser for the World Health Organization in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament contains 32 Influencers (Mostly YouTubers) and Turner was a part of the tournament. Turner did live stream the event to share his perspective, but have since accidentally leaked a URL that has the 32 Influencers, alongside MrBeast and his crew. He also leaked MrBeast's personal phone number. The live stream and the tournament was down for 30 minutes before resuming.

Turner apologized about the situation and continued on with the tournament in good spirits. He would lose against Pokimane in round one.

Accused of exploiting

On May 16, 2020, Turner was playing a Fortnite Championship Series (commonly initialized as FNCS). Turner has had a history of finding Fortnite's supply llamas from a long distance. During the Championship Series, Turner found three of the supply llamas as soon as the game started, some that cannot be seen by the viewers. People on Reddit accused him of changing the game files to make it easier to find these supply llamas from a distance, but others speculated that he has experience of finding the supply llamas as he has done them for a long time competitively.

Trivia

• Turner's username on Fortnite was 'Not Tfue' (which was a name he came up with after the suspension of his previous account). When Tfue started up his stream and starting up Fortnite, Fortnite changed Turner's Fortnite username from 'Not Tfue' to 'Tfue', and quickly disabled the account that previously had the name 'Tfue' due to it being inactive.
