Hello everyone, this is The Archfiend.

―Archfiend's intro

Jamie T. Birkitt, better known online as TheArchfiend, is an American YouTuber who makes vlogs, rants, and other miscellaneous content. He's one of the first YouTuber "news channels".

He also owned another channel called TheJokefiend, which was used as a backup/emergency account.

History[]

Archfiend was a member on eBaumsworld before joining YouTube. His first videos were simple POV rollercoaster rides, but later led to his rant videos; his first video to gain popularity was a rant on the Irate Gamer. Archfiend's videos would then go on to become about YouTube drama from many different YouTubers. On his backup channel, TheJokefiend, he told various jokes that sometimes referenced other YouTubers (such as his Shane Dawson joke).

He became known for attacking many different popular YouTubers (e.g. Shane Dawson, iJustine, RayWilliamJohnson), the majority of which he thought were "cheating the system" by using misleading titles and fake thumbnails. Archfiend would later make his own video with a misleading title and thumbnail to prove that it works and does cheat the system. He didn't put ads on the video, not wanting to profit of his audience being mislead.

Due to the channels he attacked having large and mostly devoted fanbases, Archfiend often recieved hate comments on his videos. He later used those hate comments to his advantage, and made a series called "Let's All Laugh At Fanboy Comments". In these videos, Archfiend would feature various hate comments he received, noting many spelling and grammar errors as well as pointing out flaws in the comments.

Shifting Content[]

After going away from YouTube drama, he shifted his videos more on sports, current events and others. Archfiend would post videos every week during football season talking about the Philadelphia Eagles.

He also made top 5 list videos about various topics and also did fan suggested lists.

He would also do some comedy videos like his "So the Other Day..." videos where he would tell satirical stories about his day to day life.

Leaving YouTube[]

Around 2014-2015, He would start talking about his overall dissatisfaction with creating content on YouTube, In 2016, he announced that he would be leaving YouTube indefinitely. He soon returned for a short bit to talk about the Philadelphia Eagles before taking another hiatus.

He would return from the hiatus momentarily as his team would eventually win the Super Bowl in 2018. During the video he explains why he has taken such a long time away from YouTube. He says that a lot of it comes from a death in the family as well as having to take care of his child has left him little time to care about YouTube.

Return[]

He made a permanent return to YouTube in early 2020. Mainly discussing the pandemic. Though as time went on he would go on to discuss fatherhood and current events.
