Hey, brother!

―J or Ben at the beginning of a video

Jonathan Louis "J" Carlin (born: February 4, 1988 (1988-02-04) [age 36]) and Benjamin Pratt "Ben" Carlin (born: October 25, 1989 (1989-10-25) [age 34]) are an American YouTube duo known for their channel SuperCarlinBrothers in which they discuss, review, and create theories centered around popular film franchises.

Jonathan uploads a video every Tuesday and Ben uploads a video every Thursday. All their videos (except Fast Facts) begin with "Hey, brother!" J's videos end with "I will see you in another life, brother" and Ben's end with "I will see you on Tuesday". J's sign off line might be inspired by the line used by the character Desmond Hume in Lost. J is the older of the two.

J and Ben have made multiple videos involving Harry Potter, Pixar, Disney, Marvel, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Star Wars. Both Carlin brothers are proud Slytherins and have talked in defense of it in one video named In Defense Of Slytherin.

J vs Ben is a series of videos where they have take quizzes on topics (usually Harry Potter). There is No Multiple Choice unless both brothers agree to hear it, during these quizzes. A timer was used for a period of time, but it was removed in 2020. Ben uploads videos on Fast Facts, where he lists fun facts about films, including Pixar, the Harry Potter movies, the Hunger Games movies, and the original Star Wars trilogy. The series was inspired by the videos of FootofaFerret. J usually uploads videos where he goes to Google and types in a few words (usually the beginning of a question) and Google autofills the rest and J answers with "100%(ish) accuracy". Though J usually uploads the videos, Ben has uploaded three of his own Google Autofill videos. This series seems to be on hold as there has not been a new one in nearly 4 years.

Pre - CoVid, J and Ben started a podcast, called Popcorn Culture, where they talk about random stuff and a lot of funny stories from their own life. Their wives, Beth and Alyce have appeared on the 100th episode with them. A running joke is that Ben calls himself "the one true host" instead of J.

Employees[]

In January of 2017 they hired Derek Knabenbauer as editor. He eventually became the voice of the quizmaster in J vs. Ben until he was replaced by Tyler Carlin in 2019. It is currently unknown what happened to him.

In July of 2018 the brothers hired longtime patron and Discord moderator Jordan Balke. Her official title is "Jane of All Trades" and is the office manager and meet-up planner. She also has a Youtube channel called SuperAwesomeJordan, which she mentioned on Tyler's podcast, Bacon and Eggs.

In April of 2019 Scott Niswander of the YouTube channel NerdSync joined the SCB team and became the editor for the main channel a little while after. It is also unknown what happened to him.

Riley Murtagh is the current video editor for the main channel.

Personal Life[]

J married his high school sweetheart Beth on June 27, 2015. J and Beth announced the upcoming birth of their first child on July 18 2017 in a video entitled "How Pixar Almost Deleted Itself" and in several Instagram and Facebook posts prior to the YouTube announcement. Their son, Luke William Carlin, was born on November 29,2017, being born six weeks premature. He spent two weeks in the NICU and has since been released. Upon hearing the news of J's son, fans in the comments section/towel section started #SuperCarlinBaby. In October of 2019, J announced that Beth was pregnant with twins on his vlog. They were born on February 23rd 2020 and are named Nicholas Martin Carlin and Nathan John Carlin. They are identical.

Ben married Alyce Haynes in January of 2020. They had a Disney Wedding involving mashed potatoes. On October 26th, 2021, Ben started his own personal vlog, with Alyce. It's called With the Carlins and he's been documenting life with their new daughter, Addison Elaine Carlin and other aspects of their life together, as well as Indy and Chewie, their two dogs. So far Addison is Ben and Alyce's first child and the youngest grandchild at the moment. Outside of his Youtube, Ben owns a company that produces and manufactures salt water aquariums and Alyce owns a dress shop, which was revealled on their podcast, Popcorn Culture.
