NoCopyrightSounds (initialized as NCS), is an English organization which releases electronic dance music (EDM) under a royalty-free license, allowing content creators to freely use their music in the videos produced by them.

Biography[]

Billy Woodford is the founder of NoCopyrightSounds. He was born in Preston, United Kingdom in 1991. He studied at Manchester Metropolitan University MMU.

History[]

Billy Woodford created NCS on August 14, 2011 as a music promoter channel. The channel reached 6 thousand subscribers in November 2011.

Their first official release, "Time Leap," by Aero Chord, was uploaded on November 28, 2013. At that point, NCS slowly transitioned to an independent music label.

5 days after reaching 1 million subscribers, NCS released their most popular song, "Fade" by Alan Walker. It reached more than 400 million views on YouTube. However, on November 12, 2021, Alan Walker's contract with NCS ended and cannot be renewed, which means that Fade, Spectre, and Force, all Alan Walker songs, have since been removed from the catalog. The songs are still up on Alan's music channel, as well as his SoundCloud page.

On August 31, 2022, a sub-label was launched called 'Arcade'.

The label is currently ran by Sam, Dan, and Charlotte, while Billy decides to focus on other things in life for now.
