Alex Savage,(born 1992[citation needed]) better known online as OMFG, is a British-born Canadian music producer who makes electronic music. He is best known for his song "Hello" which has gained over 200 million views on YouTube since being uploaded on Dec 25, 2014 on the music promotion channel MrSuicideSheep. OMFG's personal YouTube channel has more than 1 million subscribers.

Controversy[]

When Alex first released music under OMFG, many questioned his identity. At first, he used several pictures from a girl named Kylee Boettcher to gain publicity, since not that many female producers exist in comparison to males. For the longest time he pretended to be female, even publishing a Q&A video with Kylee in front of the camera.[1]

Once Alex revealed who he was,[2] he later mentioned when asked about the whole situation that Kylee was hired by Alex as an experiment. He wanted to see what would happen if he was the only girl who made this kind of music, as he didn't know anyone else who fit those qualifications and actually existed. Everything went well until he told her that after she graduated high school, she needed to send him one selfie per day for social media. Remember, she was being paid over $100,000 a year. She didn't agree, and the whole OMFG relationship between the two slowly started to descend, especially when she took over the snapchat and instagram as a personal social media outlook. Eventually, he fired her and removed any trace of her on anything OMFG related.

"I Miss You" Album[]

OMFG announced that he will be releasing an album called 'I Miss You' on the 24th of April, 2020.[4] The album is going to include his previous singles, Get Out, What's Up and another song that viewers are supposed to pick from 5 songs. The album is no where to be seen since it's supposed release date, possibly because Alex is finishing up all 5 songs due to positive viewer feedback, or possibly COVID-19 concerns.

Trivia []

  • OMFG Trash is Alex's official secondary account, albeit on SoundCloud rather than YouTube. The account is mainly used to upload W.I.P. (Work in Progress) songs and new ideas.
  • OMFG owns two chrome-wrapped vehicles, as seen several times on his SnapChat.
  • The track Stardust is composed of mostly presets from Sytrus, as stated by Alex in his reveal stream.
  • Before becoming OMFG, Alex stated on his reveal stream, that his artist name was originally going to be just "Alex", until he decided to go with OMFG.
  • OMFG never planned on becoming as popular as he is. He claimed that he was going to school for electronic engineering, and planned on having a normal life, until his first song under OMFG, "Hello" exploded on the internet.
  • OMFG's first song "Hello" took the longest of all of his songs to make. OMFG claims he spent a month working on the song.
  • After releasing several tracks over the years, Alex managed to inspire an entire community of people based around creating music that sounds like his. This community is known as "OMFG Style".
  • Trolls have uploaded music similar to OMFG's to music streaming services several times under OMFG's name. "Rape", "Fat Kathy", "Headshot", "Cock And Ball Torture", "Burp", "Campfire", "Friends", "Guess Who Can Drive", "Fat Arthur", "Arthur Harvey", "Netherlands", "Zany", "Negro Funk" and "TENNIS B PENIS" are all just troll uploads, none of them were made by OMFG. Although not uploaded to streaming services, Alex confirmed in an old stream that "Urban Pineapple" was not made by him.
