Slipknot is an American hard rock, heavy metal, nu metal, alternative metal, and groove metal band formed in 1995, in Des Moins, Iowa, United States, by Shawn "Clown" Crahan, (percussion, backing vocals, samples, and media), Anders Colsefni, (lead vocals, percussion, backing vocals, samples, and media), Josh "Gnar" Brainard, (bass guitar and backing vocals), Paul Gray, (bass guitar and backing vocals), Joey Joridson, (drums), and Donnie Steele, (guitars).

Since their inception, they've released a total of 6 studio albums; Slipknot, (1999), Iowa, (2001), Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Versus), 3004), All Hope is Gone, (2008), .5: The Gray Chapter, (2014), and We Are Not Your Kind, (2019).
The band has been at the center of many controversies[1] over the years, as have many heavy metal bands that came before them, due to the often very mature themes of their lyrics, plus their equally mature public personas and stage personalities.
