The Official Q-Tip is the official YouTube account of hip hop artist Q-Tip, formerly of the golden age hip hop group, A Tribe Called Quest. Although the account is the official YouTube page of the artist, it is not ran by him, but by multiple employees.

Account historyEdit

The Official Q-Tip account was first created by multiple employees on January 6, 2009. The first uploaded video to the account was the promotional video for the Q-Tip single "Manwomanboogie" from his album The Renaissance. The video was named ManWomanBoogie, and was released to the YouTube public on January 16, 2009. The next month of February, the playlist Videos was created. A month after the previous playlist, The Official Q-Tip account released their second playlist entitled hiphopvideos. The second video uploaded to the account, was a remix of the Q-Tip song "We Fight/We Love" featuring fellow rap star Kanye West and Consequence. The video was uploaded to YouTube as we fight we love remix featuring kanye west & consequence on March 25, 2009. On March 27, 2009 the video hey mudfoot! tiploops was uploaded. Later The Official Q-Tip uploaded a video for the song "Can You Get It (Suzie Cesar)" by funk band Mandrill. Teh video was released under the title Can You Get It (Suzie Cesar) MANDRILL on April 1, 2009. After that, the promotional video for "Life is Better" by Q-Tip featuring Norah Jones, also from The Renaissance was released onto YouTube. The video was released as Q-Tip feat. Norah Jones- "Life Is Better" on October 2, 2009, which was also the featured video on the channel at the moment. Q-Tip feat. Norah Jones- "Life Is Better" was later featured in the "Music Tuesday" YouTube Spotlight of Tuesday, October 6, 2009 on the YouTube main page. Short after, The Official Q-Tip channel was reformatted to the Beta Channel design. The video a tribe called quest - Award Tour uploaded by KetZor on December 13, 2006, became a featured video on the account when the move to Beta was made.
