The Many Faces of The JonateerEdit

thejonateers (the-jon-@-ears) has used several different YouTube accounts throughout his YouTube life. Despite the incorrect assumption that he first joined in early 2007, his first account "thejonateers" was registered on the 4th August 2007. Several of his videos were tied between animation communities and the YouTube Poop community (where he famously produced Thomas And The Cillit Bang, a very popular YTP unfortunately no longer in existance) but very few of them achieved high view counts. After several ins-and-outs with thejonateers, the Jonateer signed out of thejonateers for the last time in February 2010.

However his YouTube career was far from over, since in March 2010 he took over the account thesimpletonthing, originally created to endorse a shared project titled The Simpletons Of Camelot: The Quest For Kit-Kats. The account, originally registered on the 18th November 2008, was the third account of Alex Wilson, who previously owned run3r94 and shared 2blindboys with another YouTuber. The account was passed on to the Jonateer in 2010 for his work to continue.

Inbetween thejonateers and thesimpletonthing, the Jonateer has used several YouTube accounts, including theOcompany and happyspoons to name a few.

His videos Edit

Throughout his early days with thejonateers, the Jonateer aimed his work at several different communities.

His first work dates back to early-mid 2006 with a series of short animations called The Stick Ones, which were then followed by 3 longer videos under the title of Something Completely Pointless. Only the latter was of any success, and was the first one aimed at YouTube rather than home viewing.

Despite the failure of these two ideas, Jon continued with other ideas such as Tanks For The Memories and even a clay-animated series. Neither of these, plus several other ideas, got very far past the writing stage and Jon moved onto YouTube Poops. In reality, his YouTube Poops were his first big success, bringing to the YouTube Poop community videos such as Thomas And The Cillit Bang, Livid On The Explosives, Sir and Schtinky! (which resulted in a YouTube Partnership offer, later turned down for legal reasons).

Under the alias of happyspoons, Jon began an animated series of the same name featuring uniquely-styled characatures of himself, Cillit Bang advertiser Barry Scott, and two generic characters (later given the names Michael and Anthony-Alex).

Jon's last work on thejonateers was Baghead: Army Invasion, a continuation of the short lived Happy Spoons. The plot for Baghead: Army Invasion involved Barry Scott (a Science teacher) and his four students (Jonny, Dunny, Anthony-Alex and Michael) going on action-packed adventures to fight the new and dangerous race of bagheads. Due to lack of time and decent resources, the Baghead series came to a close between Episodes 2 and 3. After several months of inactivity, Jon decided to upload one last video declaring the end of Baghead and the start of a new series called The Enemy, The Opposition. However, due to his inactivity for so long, Jon had lost too many subscribers and was more than aware that there would be no way back. Therefore, in February 2010, thejonateers was abandoned.

Since taking over thesimpletonthing, Jon has not uploaded many videos, but has managed to gain some subscribers who recognised him as thejonateers. He is due to begin The Enemy, The Opposition, as well as a fresh start to Baghead: Army Invasion along several other projects. His work on thesimpletonthing will apparently parody his life as thejonateers and will feature videos such as 'fake adverts about Baghead: Army Invasion toys'.

"I'm Different" Edit

The Jonateer was always famous within his small-related section of the YouTube community for being slightly eccentric, and upon taking thesimpletonthing under his wing he developed this idea even further. The Jonateer, having moved onto other websites such as Roblox and FaceBook (despite being totally against social networking), took the idea of being insane into everyday life and adopted "I'm different" as his 'catchphrase', following a brief sentence about his opinion or day.

In its early days, thejonateers - as a profile - was friendly and suitable-for-all, even more so reflecting how thesimpletonthing is The Jonateer's way of mocking his 2006-2008 work. thesimpletonthing and its associated project "Channel TST" finally began on the 20th February 2011 when he updated his profile background and icon. The logo for thesimpletonthing became three red weathered, oil-stained buttons reading vertically TST with the rest of (T)he (S)impleton (T)hing. The background for the profile also featured these buttons on a grey, stained background with sparks coming from the corners. This profile layout and style - the complete opposite to that of thejonateers - reflected the darker, more serious humour and approach to YouTube that The Jonateer would take on for his Channel TST project.
