History[]

The first kind of videos were all free to be made, without any risks of copyright strikes, and more. There were only a few things YouTube prohibited, which were false thumbnails, false tags, false titles, nudity, and other inappropriate sources. The first video on YouTube was posted by the channel "jawed", named "Me at the zoo", uploaded on April 24, 2005. The longest video of all time was 23 days long, but unfortunately, it was removed by YouTube due to the 12-hour restriction.[1][2] As time went on, YouTube has become a bit more business friendly, and YouTube restricted the right to put certain music in your videos.

Example of a video[]

Talking Kitty Cat 64 - World's Most Spoiled Cat is an example of a video. You can click the screen to pause the video. Press the full screen button to watch it in full screen, press Esc to go back.

Embedding/Usage[]

The use of YouTube has been for the time used as a utility to provide content for certain cases, as to use an asset from a specific source for blogging, forums, and/or representing the article's topic for wiki designation/informative purposes, also supported by Fandom's video embedding tool via Special:NewFiles. Notable Fandom communities with YouTube channels of the purpose include Muppet Wiki, and the Sonic Wiki Zone.

Thumbnails[]

Main article: Thumbnail

Thumbnails were an important source of videos ever since YouTube became more professional. Every YouTuber, especially the popular ones, such as PewDiePie or Markiplier use professional thumbnails on their videos. Some channels do not use custom thumbnails, following for the reasons that they are lazy, or if they don't know how to. However, YouTubers who don't use thumbnails do not get as popular as professional YouTubers who use thumbnails.

Tags[]

Tags are supposed to be linked to a video that it is associated with. It is against the rules to use false tags.

Categories[]

Categories are things that describe your video of what it is associated with. An example of a category can be Music, Gaming, or People & Blogs. It is not against the rules to use false categories, as it is a common mistake. The category is set to "People & Blogs" by default. In the category "Gaming", the uploader has the ability to choose the title of the game played in the video. However, this is not necessary as YouTube can detect the game and insert the Game Title automatically, but only if the name of the game is clearly mentioned in the title or the video description. The game title along with the game poster is shown below the video description on playback.
